Women's Privacy Project 2.0

Happy new year, friends!

I know it’s been a while (okay, like a year—yikes), but like Ms. Carly Rae, I’m comin’ back for you, baby—I’m comin’ back for you! When I first launched the Women’s Privacy Project, the idea was simple: give my gals some easy-to-follow tips to protect their privacy online, and explain in simple terms why it matters. It was going great, loved it, got some great feedback, but then I ran out of steam.

I didn’t give up on my interest in helping you protect your privacy, though, so it’s time to expand on the idea because as the late great Schoolhouse Rock taught me some years ago, “knowledge is power.”

The more things change…

Like the physical world, the digital world is also beholden to the second law of thermodynamics—it’s always getting more complex, more varied, and more chaotic. It’s a world of constant flux, new invention, new exploits, and fun new ways of mining the most data for the lowest price. To that end, I’m adding some new post types to cover more about what’s going on, in real human words.

…the more they stay the same.

Protecting your digital privacy and understanding what’s happening is just as important today as it was a year ago. In fact, many of the same tools and tips I shared last time are just as relevant today, so that’s cool, right? I’m gonna be updating some of those to hit new marks, explain some new privacy tech (and the ups and downs that go along with them), and keep providing those step-by-step guides to incrementally improve your digital privacy.

If you’re looking forward to it, tell a friend!

Lots of new content is in the works for this year, and if you’ve enjoyed this newsletter in the past, please send it to a friend who can also benefit from it! Data collection is only valuable if it’s collected en masse, so let’s spread the word to protect each other!

Also, this is a labor of love. I’m planning to keep this newsletter free for as long as I can personally support it, but if you feel like buying me a highly caffeinated tea to keep me going, I will drink the sh*t out of that.

Looking forward to spending a little more time in your inbox this year, hope you are too!
